Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)

What is the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)?

The Behavioral Intervention Team, also known as BIT, is a multidisciplinary team responsible for supporting and responding to serious but non-immediate, non-emergency student concerns and behaviors. All LATTC Classified Professionals, Faculty, and Administrators are encouraged to report all concerning behaviors so that the BIT can document and track "red" flags over time and, ideally, proactively respond to a situation. BIT is not a crisis intervention team.  BIT submissions are NOT monitored 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Types of Observed Behaviors or Situations to Report
  • Anger and rage
  • Hysterical or emotional outbursts
  • Eating disorders
  • Suicidal thoughts or ideations
  • Hopelessness, desperation
  • Anxiety, depression
  • Impulsive or rash behaviors
  • Bullying
  • Delusional or paranoid speech
  • Constant frustration
  • Yelling or disrespectful actions
  • Signs of distress
  • Substance abuse
  • and many other behaviors that are disruptive or may pose harm to students or others

When in doubt about submitting a BIT referral, feel free to contact BIT at bit@lattc.edu

BIT Reporting Cycle
  • Report is submitted

  • BIT acknowledges report

  • BIT reaches out to Student and/or Reporting Party

  • BIT formulates plan of action

  • BIT follows up with referring party

Submit a BIT Referral

This form is to be used by Faculty, Classified Professional Staff and Administration for Non-Emergency situations only. BIT submissions are NOT monitored 24 hours, 7 days a week. If this is an emergency that involves an imminent risk of harm to self or others, please contact 911.

(You must be logged in to your Microsoft Office 365 account to submit the form online)

Request a BIT Presentation

Complete a request form if you would like BIT to provide a brief presentation at your upcoming department/unit meeting. Presentations are generally 30-minutes.

Visit the BIT SharePoint site for more information and resources. For questions or concerns regarding BIT, please contact us at bit@lattc.edu.
