LATTC Hosts Alumni Mixer and Basketball Event as Part of the College’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

On February 5, 2025, LATTC hosted a special celebration in honor of its 100th anniversary. The event began with an alumni mixer in the college’s Culinary Arts Building with a welcome from emcee and LATTC former public relations manager, David Ysais. LATTC alumni, Carlos Guerrero, LATTC Student Services Specialist and Jessica Olivas, Dean of Student Services provided remarks and reflections as proud LATTC alumi. Attendees then heard a college update from LATTC President Dr. Alfred McQuarters, which included an update on recent campus developments, as well as a series of exciting upcoming events in celebration of the 100th anniversary.

A group of illustrious LATTC alumni closed out the mixer, providing remarks that spoke to their continuing legacies and impact on their chosen fields, ranging from the justice system to the entertainment industry. Speakers included Rochelle Aquino, renowned sculptural facialist; Everett Osborne, acclaimed actor and former college athlete; Judge Songhai Armstead, champion for justice and community empowerment; Mayes Rubeo, Academy and BAFTA-nominated costume designer; Marlo Shears, licensed cosmetologist and successful business-owner; and Andy Keseloff, engineer for BuildLACCD, working on future building projects for the LATTC campus.

Artist and sculptor Hacer smiles at the 100th anniversary alumni mixer. During his time as a Welding student at LATTC, Hacer created the campus's iconic “Pegasus” installation that still stands at the college’s Grand Avenue entrance.  

Later in the evening, guests were invited to show their Beaver pride and support the college’s women’s and men’s basketball teams as they faced off in home games against Río Hondo College. The college was pleased to warmly welcome Río Hondo College President, Dr. Marilyn Flores, and Dr. Earic Dixon-Peters, Vice President of Student Services.

It was an evening to remember as guests gathered to reflect on their LATTC experiences that helped build a century of success.
