MEChA Movie Day Event
Thursday, April 27, 2023
On Thursday, April 27 from 2–5 pm in F5-111, MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano del Aztlan/Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan) hosts a special movie event featuring a screening of Selena (1997). Join MEChA for a discussion about the music star Selena and her impact on our culture. The event is free to all LATTC students (don’t forget your ID!). Proceeds from the concessions sold will go toward supporting future MEChA events. We hope to see you there!
About MEChA
The term Chicano is grounded in a philosophy, not nationality. Chicano is a state of mind, not a birthright. Recognizing that all people are potential Chicanas and Chicanos, MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano del Aztlan/Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan) encourages those interested in developing a total commitment to self-determination for the people of Aztlan to join.
MEChA seeks to promote and recruit students into higher education, retain its cultural identity and preserve and study its history. New membership is open to all students enrolled at LATTC. Through MEChA, students can learn leadership skills, become politically active, and form a meaningful community.
Weekly MEChA meetings are held every Wednesday from 2–3 pm
Location: D3-03
