New Program Approval

The New Program Approval policy is outlined in E-64.  All proposed certificates and Associate degree majors must follow the process outlined below.  Instructions for approval are included elsewhere in this Handbook. 

PROGRAMS REQUIRING 17 UNITS OR LESS PROGRAMS REQUIRING 18 UNITS OR MORE
Write up a narrative explaining the purposes of the program, the employment/transfer benefits, and the program requirements (courses) on the district form (MS Word or PDF). Submit it to the Agenda Review Subcommittee to place the proposal on the Curriculum Committee agenda. Submit it to the Agenda Review Subcommittee to place the proposal on the Curriculum Committee agenda.
Present your proposal to the Curriculum Committee for approval. Present your proposal to the Curriculum Committee for preliminary approval.
The form will be sent to the district to be added to our database. Complete the appropriate state New Program Application forms (MS Word) with all required signatures.  For occupational majors, this will involve approval by the Regional Occupational Deans.
During the next catalog printing cycle, confirm that the program has been added. Submit the application and 4 copies to the district Educational Services office.
  The Board of Trustees will approve the program, then send the application to the state Chancellor's Office for approval.
  The state will notify the college if the program has been approved.
  The district will add the program to our database.
  During the next catalog printing cycle, confirm that the program has been added.

The college does NOT receive Partnership For Excellence money for graduates. The college DOES receive Partnership For Excellence money for graduates.
